Idc if it cant play AAA games. Most of them suck anyway. The Deck is a backlog annihilator and an emulation beast!

Steam Deck. It can emulate switch games and other console games.
I like to mash the face buttons with my balls and use my 3rd leg for looking around.
Vampire Survivors
I’ll have to find the video but people were claiming that their ssd’s and a couple other components were a good bit hotter. Airflow in computer systems are designed in a very specific fashion and changing that could lead to other components being starved of air.
I heard they may worsen thermals of the oled model due to different airflow configuration. I would just wait until more people modify theirs and be the test dummy. Just my 2 cents
Doom lol
Valve is waiting specifically for the right boost in performance and efficiency before they release Steam Deck 2. They are working on Deck 2 already but claimed it was at least ~2-3 years in the future.
Modern Oled’s don’t suffer from this problem generally. You would have to have a static image on screen for an extreme amount of time to get burn in of any significance.
Hollow knight has been in my library for so long but mouse and keyboard doesnt feel right. Can’t wait to try on the deck
If my somewhat top of the line pc with 3700x and 6800xt can just barely do 4k 60fps how do you think a $500 dollar handheld is going to manage that?
You are SOL I’m afraid.
I have not received my Oled 512gb but I can already safely say you will not be displeased if you are anything like me. I do a lot of emulation because modern games are not for me. Being able to play PS1/PS2, N64, BOTW and Gamecube stuff while in the comfort of my own bed is much much better than being at my desk. I have a backlog of games on Steam that I want to play but don’t feel like playing on my PC for whatever reason. Nier Automata and Bayonetta being the 2 major ones. For what little bit of modern games I play, the steam deck plays them well enough. I also want to tinker with Steam OS since I am a linux user already and I would like to see Valve’s take on things.
I wish they would have gone with Fedora or Debian as a base. Would be less moving parts to deal with I think. Although…. Steam OS was originally using Debian so maybe they ran into some issues they couldn’t play around.
Ordered a 512gb used deck for $360 tax and shipped. Has hall sensor joy sticks installed so fingers crossed it works and functions like new. Would have rather gone refurb but don’t know when they will be in stock. Much rather take the hit on screen quality for the price difference.
Sony games haven’t been good for so long too;(. Spider-Man 2 was cheeks.
