99.99% of the time, P0420 and P0430 codes will need the converters replaced to fix it. It is strange they both set codes at the same time but thats what I’ve seen.

As a dealership tech, I work with a lot of dumb techs. And seems like there’s more and more of them. They need to pull off the EVAP line at the charcoal canister and make sure it doesn’t have any gas in it. Most the time there is a problem with the charcoal canister or one of the transfer pipes or EVAP pipes in the tank.
Definitely a torque converter clutch shutter. Super common. Flushing the fluid fixed the earlier models. Should be under powertrain warranty though.

Most likely the new alternator is junk. I’ve seen this happen on similar gm models at higher rpm’s do the same thing.
