My Enclave spit gasoline at me twice.
I took it to the dealership, they said nothing is wrong, and they were able to put gas in it.
More Details:
- It probably had around ~3 gallons of gas
- I had driven it a week since putting gas in it, so I know it wasn’t anywhere near full
- I took it to a service station, started putting gas in it, and it spit it out and onto my leg
- I took it to a second service station, just before fueling I noticed liquid gasoline was pooling just behind the ‘flap’ into the tank, and bubbling lightly
- Even just letting the ‘flap’ close would scoop up some of the liquid gasoline and kick it out
- I was unable to add more gasoline to the tank at any point
But the dealership spent a day looking at it, said it throws no error codes, says the solenoid is fine, says they don’t see any problems. I asked them to recheck it and try to find even a speculative explanation, because I’ve never had that happen with any car.
Does anybody have any possible explanations?!
As a dealership tech, I work with a lot of dumb techs. And seems like there’s more and more of them. They need to pull off the EVAP line at the charcoal canister and make sure it doesn’t have any gas in it. Most the time there is a problem with the charcoal canister or one of the transfer pipes or EVAP pipes in the tank.
