I had a hard time maintaining anything over 30. The game feels great at 30 in a 90hz container on the OLED though. I used xess quality for upscaling and a mix of settings to get it dialed in. There is a lot of issues with the game like falling through the map and input not working on startup but when it does work it is a ton of fun to play on the deck.

I had this same dilemma and finally decided to exchange my LE for another. I have 3 dead pixels and 2 of them are close to where my eyes focus in game most of the time. The third is in the top right corner and hardly bothers me at all. I’ve been gaming a lot on it and after seeing the dead pixels enough times during gameplay I decided to go forward with an exchange. If it was only the one pixel in the top right corner I would be keeping it because that one only occasionally bothers me while I’m in the menus or browser.

The other reason I was concerned about exchanging it is the uniformity on my panel is fantastic. I threw the worst scenarios I could find at the screen at different brightness levels and there is absolutely no green tinting and minimal grain. I’m hoping the replacement looks just as good and that the uniformity is consistent across these BOE panels.

I had a really hard time capturing what it actually looks like in person with these picture but it’s pretty close to what I see. I sent the inside comparison shots to valve and they approved my return request without issues. If you’re still in the 14 day window you should be able to return for any reason.

I have had 2 switch OLEDs with Samsung panels and they have all been really grainy like this. I assume the majority of them are and even on Samsungs website they claim this is normal on AMOLED displays.

This is the observation I came away with having both of them side by side. I know my opinion is subjective and I have a small sample size of one of each panel but I was pleasantly surprised seeing the uniformity and clarity of the BOE panel next to the Samsung.

No problem! If it’s not too bad I would keep it. The one I received is pretty bad so you could potentially do worse exchanging it. If you want to test it in a game you can download a demo of inside, that game uses the problematic grey right at the start menu.

Only the LE has the BOE panel. The 1TB standard OLED will have a Samsung panel

I’m glad this thread was posted. I have an LE with three dead pixels and was worried about replacing it but after seeing quite a few of these posts I feel hopeful I may get one with less or no dead pixels. After comparing the BOE and Samsung panels side by side I would much rather have the BOE panel due to the excellent uniformity.

It seems that your panel is fine. The way you describe your menus sounds a lot better than what I see. I would describe the grain in the menus as a coat of tiny green speckles that cover the entire screen and is noticeable at a comfortable viewing distance. I wish I had some equipment that could capture it but maybe some one else on this sub will be able too. I’m just trying to be informative because I know how frustrating this was when I discovered the green tint on my switch OLED. I know some phones with green tint and grain were actually able to improve with software updates as well.

I don’t mind the downvotes I’m just trying to be helpful and people like to get mad. Im disappointed in both screen manufacturers. BOE with the dead pixels and Samsung with the bad uniformity. It’s very possible that I just got a really bad Samsung panel on the 1TB model. I noticed the very grainy menus as soon as I turned on the device. If your deck doesn’t look like mine I would definitely hold onto it because you know units like mine are out there now.

I have both the LE and 1TB deck right now and took some comparison shots with my crappy phone camera. Mura on the non LE Samsung panel is very pronounced. The BOE panel on my LE is very uniform and looks way better. My LE does have 3 dead pixels but I’ll take that over the ugly graininess on the Samsung panel. Here’s some comparison shots

I also have 3 dead pixels on my LE and received a non LE 1TB deck today and was able to compare the 2 side by side. The Samsung display that comes on the non LE panel has a much more pronounced mura effect and if that’s something that would bother you I would recommend sticking with the LE. I’d rather live with the dead pixels than look at a grainy screen.

I assume you meant to respond to me. Sorry for the awful quality in these pictures my phones camera is crap. When my wife gets home I’ll try and borrow her phone to see if I can get some more accurate shots

I’m really surprised by how much better the BOE panel uniformity is in comparison to Samsung. I’m trying to find grain on my LE but it’s just solid and I’m really impressed with how clear the display is. The samsung panel is about as grainy as my switch OLED and I’m surprised to see that after all these years samsung did not improve the quality of their calibration and let BOE pass them up in panel uniformity.

I could not get my LE OLED to connect to my home network no matter what I tried. As a last resort I called my ISP and they performed a firmware update on my router. My steam deck connected immediately after the update and I haven’t had any issues since. Not sure if this will help you but this was my experience getting my deck online

I just decided to refund and buy again. I should get my new 1TB deck tomorrow and I’ll send my LE back in a few days. I didn’t want to wait forever for the RMA process and I also don’t want to play the lottery with the BOE panels.
