Answer me one question, what game was Jesus good at CF this season in any competition?
He was electric for the first 6 months last season until his injury. He was obviously rushed back and didn’t look the same for the rest of the season but he’s still not got back to his level this season and he’s not a better winger than Saka or Martinelli.
I’m judging all of the players from how they play this season. Both Eddie and Jesus have lacked something at 9, Havertz has been good up front whether you like it or not. Not sure why Havertz being poor at LCM means you have to mark his performances down when talking about up front.
Weird take.
Hasn’t Jesus recently come back from injury? I get that things aren’t going great for him but you need to give players time to settle.
You say that Havertz has been our best CF this season when he’s played 2 games as a sub in that position for 15-20 mins each. That’s a very small sample size. We find much bigger sample size of him playing as a LCM where he hasn’t been great.
Havertz offers us more aerially when we are completely onto the opponent and we need a goal. That’s not the only thing we need when he starts a game. Jesus’s overall game when completely fit is onto another sphere compared to Havertz. When we need to go long and need a physical presence, I get it, get Havertz on. But not at the expense of Gabriel Jesus at all.
I also don’t believe you bench your star players when they are going through a bad patch, especially for someone as unproven as Havertz.
People talk about giving your players confidence, it isn’t only applicable for fringe players, you need to.give confidence to your star players too. You shouldn’t just bench Jesus and Ødegaard because they’re going through a bad patch.
