1500 upvotes on a post about aerial duels? I mean, really? I think Havertz will succeed at 9 for us, but come on man.
Standards are in hell for him lol
It’s all narratives really, not the performance. If a player is a recent Arteta signing and he is criticised by the media, r/gunners will be firmly behind the player no matter the performance. If you dare think that the player shouldn’t be starting you’d be served with the usual “Do you know more than the manager?” At this point it is also a dick measuring contest to show everyone that "Oh look I am a true Arsenal fan, I only support the players and don’t criticise them "
Then you shit like aerial duels coming up because there are no other metrics you can praise the player for.
It’s not just for Havertz tho, any player who is being criticised by the media (provided he’s a recent Arteta signing) would get extra protection from the fans. Is that a good thing or a bad thing, that’s for you to decide. You could argue that fans are supposed to protect their players from outside noises. On the other hand you could also argue that some players get fans backing them without any reason when players who have performed well deserve it so much more.
And only 60% win rate at that. So what 1500 people are praising Havertz for is being slightly above average at winning 50-50s.
All the players we’ve had over the years that have been praised for really obscure, hand picked stats, have always been ultimately poor players for us.
U dont get it - the 12 mins was the deciding factor. He won more in 12 minutes than any other Arsenal player.
underlying point being he should have played more minutes and he gave us what the team was lacking, in just 20 minutes.
