They’re different tiers, but economy is the majority chosen due to the price (business is expensive for most travelers hence why they opt for economy even if its crap) and it depends on how long the flight is rendering the price difference justified. If on a short flight, then economy is ideal if on a budget. However, if you’re heading somewhere it’s distant: business is better at the expense of paying a lot more than economy.
I’m not a millionaire. I’m getting the cheapest possible ticket unless someone else is footing the bill. I can be mildly uncomfortable part of a day to save several hundred dollars.
Business on any flight over 4 hours, if I can make the points work. I’d never pay for it, but I do credit card churning and so it ends up being a free upgrade usually.
Being able to lie down and sleep on a 12+ hour flight makes it so much less exhausting.
I deal with economy on the flight to Japan, but my last time coming back, I bought the upgrade (work paid for the base fare) and being able to lie flat and actually get some sleep was a game changer for getting back on US time. That said, I got an incredibly good deal, and have to face the fact that I likely won’t get the upgrade next time I come back to the States.
Always economy. I splurge on the hotel. Flight you’re on for only so many hours and then you’re done. No matter what you feel gross and miserable. I like knowing for the next few days I’m going to be in a nice hotel room.
Huh I’m the opposite. A nice flight avoids burning a day on rest once you get there. The hotel is there to sleep and rest in, as long as it’s clean quiet and central that’s all I care about. I’m not planning on spending much time there awake, so it doesn’t need to be super nice

If traveling for work, they cover business class for flights over 6 hours. So you bet I’m trying to cheese any flight to London to juuuuust exceed 6 hours.

Economy on an airline that treats people with dignity lol. Business class is very nice though.
We’ve flown premium for and 3 years now after finding a seat sale where it was cheaper than economy. We loved the wider seats, increased legroom, and the food so much we’ve stayed at it.
