As Texas Republicans face increasing scrutiny over racist statements just weeks before the 2026 midterm elections, they’re turning to an old strategy to try to maintain control over a US Senate seat: transphobia.
An ad paid for by Texas PAC – which is associated with the Senate Leadership Fund, run by Senate Republicans – translates Donald Trump’s infamous line about Kamala Harris into Spanish and applies it to state Rep. James Talarico, the Democratic candidate for Senate in the state.
As another Texan: With every respect, I’m voting for Talarico and Hinojosa. Abbott, Paxton, Cruz, and every other sycophant have shown no respect for this state. It’s time to give them a Big Tex-sized Lucchese out the door.
