Oh boy! I can’t wait for the announcement in a week that Anthropic is buying billions of dollars worth of Google’s TPUs so Google can get that sweet double stock bump. Need to inflate those prices as much as possible so it will be that much worse when the bubble pops.
The latest conspiracy I’ve heard is that Anthropic’s models run worse on Google servers, but internally the researchers wanna free up nvidia compute. So they knowingly moved their models for consumers in a way that degraded quality.
What isn’t a conspiracy is the quality of Claude code dropped enough the past couple weeks that people noticed. Athropic even wrote a blog post claiming they fixed it:
If you ask me, I think the drop in quality is due to arrogance, with a side of incompetence.
Anthropic has been positioning Claude as the safe, enterprise-friendly AI while quietly accepting billions from the company most synonymous with surveillance capitalism. The billion commitment is not a technical vote of confidence, it is a strategic hedge against being locked out of the next platform shift if OpenAI stumbles. Google is not investing in AI safety, it is buying optionality while pretending ethics are the product.
