I just saw an old blog post from Proton about joining forces with Standard Notes. It’s from 2 years ago and it said:
In the coming months, we hope to find ways to make Standard Notes more easily accessible to the Proton community>
I never even heard of it until someone alerted me to it, as i was looking for a new note taking app. I landed on Obsidian, but i thought it might be useful to have my notes incorporated in my proton account. So, i’m suspecting it is basically dead?
Proton keeps adding new stuff, shelving older plans indefinitely, that’s my impression anyway.
in my recollection, it seems like soon after the merge/acq, proton started releasing the docs & collab features for Drive. so maybe it was more about getting access to Standard’s technology, rather than merging service offerings like with SimpleLogin
This is exactly my interpretation
I just found another article that they will not merge into a proton subscription…
Well that sucks. I’ve been waiting for them to add it to the Proton subscription like they did with Simple Login. Guess I’ll stick with Joplin.
Maybe a weird place to mention a competitor here but I prefer Simplenote over Standard Notes. Though if proton were to integrate both services (like being able to see/order/write notes from Proton drive) they might win me back.
