Remember, if you’re going to consume Pride merch, buy from places like Humble Bundle that actually put the money towards LGBTQ+ organisations. Paying a random conglomerate twice the normal price for an item, especially if you’re queer or an ally, makes little sense and only incentivises businesses to boost their profits from the queer and ally community.
Edit: I already own Haven, so if anyone would like a GOG key let me know, as I am now in possession of a spare.
Even Humble Bundle itself is pretty enshittified compared to how it used to be. They used to give you a lot more control over which charities you supported etc.
IGN bought them a couple of years ago.
Besides locking down the charities, they also increased the “minimum to get all of it” price for bundles to $25, and made it so the “minimum” tip to Bundle is $7.50, up from $1. They also hid the charity sliders behind more obscure UI elements so people mostly forget that selecting the share of the bundle going to charity was a big part of the experience.
I remember when the minimum tip to Bundle was $0. That change also stood out because I used to set it to something like:
- $1/game going to developer for games that had native Linux versions
- $1/game going to charity for games that didn’t (+more to meet any minimums to get the whole bundle)
- $0 tip (because Humble as middleman got plenty of profit from people who left it at the default)
And I often picked a different charity than the default.
Something that I have been warning about for years now is that all of these establishment voices that claim to support a thing are just going to use that thing up and then discard it like a used tissue.
The sooner people realize that, the better off everyone will be. Global megacorps are not your friend.
