This “plastic existence” reminds me of Refractions in the Plastic Pulse-a great Stereolab track. Has very limited commentary in this context, though, worth listening to for many tasteful beeps and boops. I will say that some of the French lyrics translate to English as “in endless action, without trophy or glory, in endless action, without profit or victory, a bottomless creation…”

This is an image with captions; usually these are meant as metaphors, jokes, fiction, or exaggerations.

Okay but it says “They brought us to live with AI” as a sort of fourth wall breaking. Even within this context that’s not really true, I get what is meant but it should be phrased differently like “They make us look realistic with AI”, or something in that vein.

Fuck Lost. “It’s better to never reveal the mystery!” That was the guiding principle, to just cake on mystery and keep audiences following like a laser pointer and a cat. I’m an advocate for free speech, but if someone made a law outlawing that kind of storytelling, it might cause my resolve to waver. At least Stephen King will write an ending, even if it’s the third deus ex machina in a row, you’ll get an ending!

“It’s better to never reveal the mystery!”

Nothing is as good as your imagination!

Fuck you, you’re the “creative”, your entire job is to be better than my imagination. Why am I paying attention/money to you if I wanted to just imagine cool shit instead?

People forget how crazy the speculation was in those pre-streaming days. Like D&D (the Game of Thrones hacks), I think they thought they had to go in a different direction than fans guessed, or they “lost”. That’s not their job. Literal millions of people watched these shows every showing, there’s just no way that no one guesses what happens and posts it online. But their ego was bruised, so they thought they had to go a way that no one was expecting (because it made no sense: Game of Thrones), or say they wanted an unexplainable mystery (so no payoff after years of investment: Lost). The end result is ruining an incredibly popular, critically-acclaimed show…

Yeah, it’s easily one of my favorites, even though I’ve never finished it. I was deep into the third season, then I googled something about the show and discovered the last season got cancelled. I thought it was pointless to continue, since one entire season is a gap too big to fill with theories.

Just another brick in the wall of cancelled masterpieces, just like the TF2 Webcomic.

I was talking about Westworld, an HBO show about AI, androids and “humanity”. And yes, I know the original quote is from Romeo and Juliet, but quoting Dolores fits perfectly given the context

The guy looks ok similar enough to the meme ( here his hairdo looks like a combed mop though) but the ladies don’t resemble the meme that much. I recognize them from their hair and clothing, not so much the faces.
