    Need for infinite hype means you need to full explain the thing so that the investors feel the company did everything in their power to make money back by spending extra money on marketing.

    It’s like a black hole of the wrong thoughts that spirals in on itself in poor logic.

    In my mind Teasers were made before production started, to announce the movie was being made. They didn’t have any actually movie clips.

    Now it seems, if it’s more than 3 months from release, even full trailers, they get called a teaser. That’s the only distinction anymore I think.

    I agree. Back in the day, they made great teasers with footage that was especially shot for that purpose. I wrote a blog post about that kind of thing back in 2015.

    These days I find myself turning off any kind of trailer after the first minute as they seem hell bent on laying out the entire film for you.
