Elon Musk and a group of Silicon Valley allies have built a shadow campaign to put Donald Trump back in office.
…
Musk was born in South Africa, became a Canadian citizen and once admitted that his immigration status was in a “gray area” when he founded his first company in the United States. But in recent months, he became obsessed with a conspiracy theory that Trump and his followers were promoting: that Democrats were allowing immigrants to pour into the country to create more Democratic voters, in effect stealing the election. In the months leading up to the gathering at Peltz’s home, Musk helped spread the idea — a central plank of MAGA’s election denialism — across his own social media platform, X. (Musk did not respond to a detailed request for comment.)
Now, over a dinner of shrimp and lobster tails, he put the matter in stark, existential terms: Were Biden to win in November, the Democrats would use the ongoing flood of immigrants to create a permanent majority. If they failed to get Trump into office, Musk said, this would be America’s last free election.

Capitalist oligarchs love fascists. Not hard to understand.
Early fascism is pay to win, rich people love it
Police love it too. They get to be pet bulldogs for the rich.
I was ready to shit all over the New York Times because I didn’t think they’d actual talk about Peter Thiel and Curtis Yarvin/Mencius Moldbug but I’ll be goddamned they proved me wrong. I hope this gets disseminated in time, as dangerous as Trump and his folllowers are his most recent behavior showcases that at minimum the threat he personally poses has a time limit on it. Vance gaining control after Trump kicks the bucket will usher in an even more hellish corpo-cyberpunk future for all of us
Yeah, because if Trumps causes a massive disaster or simply undermines regulation they are the ones who are in a prime position to buy everything up. Trump is not a serious authoritarian and control freak like Putin who is a threat to everyone within reach. He is a liability to the status quo. Whether you like it in its current state or not, any change to the system is an opportunity to make money. Trump is the most likely candidate to change the system - by fucking it up most likely - so they back him.
They are betting against everything except themselves.
It’s always the riskiest bet: destabilising your own country vs extra market share in whatever is being sold and a weakening of regulation.
They have weighed the safety, security, and desire of every single American resident to live a fulfilling life and found it to be worth less than making their numbers bigger.
If it does all go to pot, and the rest of the western world hopes that it doesn’t, remember the names of these people for when the dust settles and do not repeat the mistakes of incomplete denazification in Germany post-WW2: put them on trial and execute the fuckers.
