Much like a Kaniza triangle
[https://lemmy.ca/pictrs/image/047d017f-10be-4ad0-a52a-36dd518cd608.png] where
the artist has not drawn a triangle, this sphere was not drawn by the artist and
is known as a contour illusion. I like to think this is how theists see god.
They see evidence that they consider divine that outlines or contours the shape
of something that isn’t there. I’d like to close this post with a quote from
Pascal that I find both fitting and oddly humorous. There is a God shaped vacuum
in the heart of every man which cannot be filled by any created thing, but only
by God, the Creator, made known through Jesus.
I somehow misread the title as “The Spider That Isn’t There” and was prepared to read an SCP article about a spider that doesn’t exist but still bites you.
