As Brazilian I can understand a good portion of Spanish (I had little contact too) but french and Portuguese from Ilha da Madeira I can’t understand shit.
I met a girl in Sao Paulo. I don’t speak Portuguese, and she didn’t speak Spanish or English. Still, we communicated just fine, me speaking entirely in Spanish and her entirely in Portuguese.
I was also impressed by how many people there speak English. Brazil is a beautiful country, and my experience with people there left me thinking highly of Brazilians in general. I really want to go back.
