That is almost nonsense. They feel and think, but they don’t recognise themselves in a mirror. I get it’s human to dislike killing things — the Masai asked their prey to forgive them.

But their feeling versus our ethical killing methods and how we thrive when we eat meat, I reckon eating cows is ethical. We do so much better on meat than on plants we are clearly evolved as top predators. How can it be unethical for a predator to take prey? Do you think a lion should eat celery?

I don’t eat pigs though. At least not unless someone else provides it for dinner.

No what’s nonsense is assuming you, an animal, are somehow above a squirrel when your direct actions destroy the planet while the squirrel fits into a system of balance providing something actually useful to the natural world. There are people, children they’re called, that can’t recognize themselves in a mirror. What’s that have to do with anything?

Humans can choose to not eat meat in many places right now. Those that don’t have the option, sure, they should eat what they can. That’s not the same as the factory farming practices that supply most of the world with its meat. You’re on the Internet so I assume this part of the group that doesn’t have to eat meat.

There are no ethical killing methods. That’s a phrase people like you made up to try and mitigate the shame you feel killing an innocent creature. Let’s raise you to the perfect age for your tender meat then bolt you. Real humane.

You think you’re a predator? Ha. Strip down and rub out in the woods with nothing and catch/kill and animal and eat it. Report back. It’s so hypocritical to talk about humans being above other animals then try to use an actual predator as analog.

Look… You came here to argue. You’re not going to have your mind changed because you’re incapable of such an act. You can’t or won’t see the harm you cause because you lack depth and understanding. I feel bad that your are the way you are because a lot of it is societal pressure, but also cavemen died off or evolved so one way or another we won’t have to worry about people like you forever.

We (humans in general) have not had to hunt animals unarmed for more than a hundred thousand years. We had bows, spears, spear throwers

Before that, before we were homo sapiens, we probably scavenged other animals’ kills, smashing the animal’s skull in with a rock to get at the brain

We know humans were predators by examining the bones of old skeletons. You can tell by the isotopes the bones are made of what the person ate - plants, animals, seaweed, fish, shellfish

But the main thing that makes me certain we are made to eat meat is that you can die from eating too much sugar, you can’t eat too much meat or fat your body tells you to stop. The current epidemic of diabetes shows that there is no stop signal for sugar
