I am relatively new fan of NBA since Lebrow - GSW era. But I don’t remember this amount of comebacks. Every now and then there is a team that comes back from 15-25 points deficit. Is there a reason why is that?

Increased three-point shooting and higher league average pace means more scoring variance, which means more big blowouts and more comebacks from large deficits… sort of. It’s not like games are becoming less competitive, it’s just that you kind of need to recalibrate what qualifies as a “blowout” or a “close game”— a 15-point lead today is closer to a 10-point lead a decade ago.

      Imo this is pretty accurate.

A lot of games this season, not just the Mavs game, I felt like a 20 point lead / deficit was still in reach no matter the side your team is on. It can get erased soo fast.
