Heya everybody, my 997.2 C2S is getting new tires all round next year, and wanted to share my thoughts and maybe get some feedback on what I’m planning:

Sizes would be the same for both sets, 235/35R19 front and 295/30R19 back.

For the summer set I would go for the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S. This is obviously the preferred tire in pretty much all communities, no question about that. Only thing that made me question this is the fact that in my size, these do not come with an N-rating. The best N-rated tire would probably be the Pilot Sport 2, but I worry that the N-rating does not justify picking such an old construction?

For winter I was looking at the Hankook Winter I*CEPT EVO3 (W330). Again, best N-rated tire (Pirelli Winter 240 Sottozero Serie II) is an ancient construction, and in addition to that very expensive in comparison to the Hankook. From all tests I’ve seen so far the Hankook seems to perform very well, but most of these test are obviously performed on different tire sized than what I need. If anyone already has these on their 911, I’d greatly appreciate feedback!

Thanks for reading!

Problem is that neither Continental nor Michelin seem to have matching 235 and 295s with the same profile right now (there are some old Michelins available, but nothing with DOT from the last three years), and I would not want to mix and match with brand new tires.

Otherwise I would absolutely prefer those, but I fear that I’ll have to make the best with the options that are available, of which the Hankook seemed to be the best.

Pickings are slim in stock sizes - even more challenging if you’re constrained by AWD

Where are you finding the Hankook in those sizes? I’ve really only seen the Sottozero available

For you does winter = snow? Or just cooler weather? I’m not sure I would care about N-rating to be honest, certainly not in snow, but to each there own and there is a lot of opinion/threads about this.

I would also give consideration to 18" sizes to see if it increases you pool of choices.

I’ve been running Sottozeros for the past decade (different sets, of course) on my C4S. Not sure what you mean by ancient construction if they work. Not knocking the Hankooks as I’ve never tried them, but what gains are you expecting from the Hankooks unless it’s simply a pricing issue (which is fine too)? With the advantage AWD, the Sottozeros work well until about 5" of snow, after which becomes a snowplow (but by then I take the SUV anyways).
