Anybody else experience extremely bad controller latency with the steam deck?
Maybe I’m just used to playing with a wired controller on my PC so I get no latency at all, but playing with a controller via bluetooth on steam deck makes rocket league and other shoots literally unplayable. I also use the steam dock via HDMI to my TV but there’s around 0.5 to 1s of latency at least.
Is there a way to improve this? Maybe I need a different controller (using PS4 controller)? I’m at a loss…
Same issue here and I have two different controllers. XBOX (beat up pretty bad) and PS5 (like new). The XBOX controller is the most stable, and I enjoy it the most for games like Super smash, but also has more input lag.
The PS5 controller is less stable, but the track pad as my mouse is really cool. I use this controller for Microsoft Flight Sim because DPAD is in a much more preferable place for adjusting flaps and landing gears. This controller has almost zero lag, when it wants to work.
As for the HDMI cable: Ive noticed it makes a HUGE difference. I grabbed one off my old WiiU and the lag was atrocious. Switched it to the one the PS5 came with and it worked great. Ive been reading about upgraded fiber HDMI cords, but they’re a little pricey. If I was uber competitive, it might be a must have though. Ads say 20% reduction in lag.
Does anyone own one of these fiber HDMI cords and can confirm?
When I noticed high latency while docked it turned out to be a bunch of image processing settings on my TV that I had to turn off. Have you checked through your TV’s settings?
That’s a good question - I will have to look into that. I haven’t looked at my TV settings yet. Maybe something I can tune or disable there. I guess a good test would be to try playing on the deck with my wireless controller without the TV connected and see if there is a noticeable lag there or not to see if it’s a controller/deck issue or if it’s a TV/display issue
