Jeep: Just Expect Every Problem
Lol this is why I leased mine. I knew it would be a total shit show a few years in but the leases were so cheap it was worth it to be in a brand new rubicon.
It’s a typical FCA product of course it’s going to have electoral issues. That being said I haven’t had any problems with mine and I actually enjoy it way more than I thought I would……
Same, they really wanted me to go 39 months, but I didn’t want anything to do with an out of warranty Stellantis product.
However, on my Thanksgiving road trip it started death wobbling with less than 10k miles. I still feel fleeced even with the low lease rate because the shitty dealers have no loaners, and I know they’re going to keep it a while.
electoral issues
Damn! Are they trying to end democracy too?!
I remember leases being offered for less than $200/month before Covid. How much was yours?
I REALLY wanted to buy a hybrid Pacifica when they came out, because it’s really the perfect family vehicle — all city driving can be done electrically, and lots of range for road trips. Throw in a surprisingly luxurious interior and it’s an amazing package. Except for the Chrysler quality. I came so close to pulling the trigger, my heart said yes but my head said “are you fuckin crazy?!”
So I bought a Sienna, which is why I’ve never been stranded or had the engine shut off mid-turn through an intersection. Or been advised by the manufacturer to no longer charge the battery and, oh ya, park it away from my house so it doesn’t burn it down while my family is asleep. The Pacifica hybrid is great. I was dead set on getting the Sienna Hybrid when it came out, but I was not impressed. Additionally, the cost of that vehicle is insane. I was able to get a near top trim Pacifica for like 8k under MSRP PLUS the full 7500 tax credit. That put it almost in the same price range as a used Honda Odyssey. No contest.
Keep a close eye on it. Consumer Reports data shows it dead last out of all ranked vehicles. https://www.consumerreports.org/cars/car-reliability-owner-satisfaction/who-makes-the-most-reliable-cars-a7824554938/
Ahh, so they used Jaguar/Land Rover electrical components /s
Which battery maker offers Jeep batteries ? It sounds like another LG problem.
The batteries themselves likely won’t be the issue. It would be something in the battery management system.
Whatta mess!
Note: vehicle in question is a PHEV
Hmm, 1% of vehicles, the new firmware apparently checks for the issue and displays an error code if detected, that leads to a battery replacement… I wonder what the actual root problem is?
Mine has 0 recalls on NHTSA, phew. Other than two electric coolant heaters failing - known issue with early builds - it’s been great.
Geez, talk about clickbait over reaction! It only affects 32K total over 3 model years. The fix is a software update, and only 1 percent of the recalled group is estimated to have the problem so thats 320 vehicles. This pales in comparison to many other recalls. And gasoline cars have also been recalled that electrical failures can cause fires so don’t park in the garage.
What about it is clickbait? It just says “Jeep issued a recall, and they recommend not charging until it’s performed just in case.” It’s actually probably the most factual title you could ask for in this scenario. Also, what do ICE cars have to do with this recall? Or any other recall for that matter? It’s not a competition, and worse things happening doesn’t mean this one doesn’t exist. I really can’t see the point you’re trying to make with any of this. Are facts just not allowed to be stated anymore?
Ya’ll shit on Tesla quality all day but for the record they’ve produced millions of vehicles and have not had any fire safety recalls, or really any notable drivetrain recalls.
Got a 2020 rubicon and waiting on lemon law. Car got new engine at 4500 miles and still had left stranded.
Can’t wait for real car companies to start making EVs.
I know all brands experience recalls, but come on, is Jeep/Chrysler really the brand you want to go with for plug-in hybrid technology? They can’t make a regular vehicle that’s reliable, what are you possibly hoping for going with them for a plug-in hybrid?
God I hate EVs so much
Pretty scary considering the battery packs are directly under the second row seat, no buffer
No fire wall???
Well situated for kids spilling their drinks 🤣
Rear seat warmers are a feature, not a bug
Wait until you learn where gas cars put their fuel tank.
largely the car industry learned a lesson courtesy of our friends at ford. ford pinto
The Pinto, a subcompact car made by Ford Motor Company, became infamous in the 1970s for bursting into flames if its gas tank was ruptured in a collision. The lawsuits brought by injured people and their survivors uncovered how the company rushed the Pinto through production and onto the market.
- the article continues on with more info about them… the cars were ‘pop culture’ punchlines for shitty cars etc.
My mr2’s tank is literally between the driver and passenger. 😂
Which is why you get no cupholder
Center console is what you use.😂👍
My hybrid Camry had them directly behind the rear seats, in the trunk. No firewall between it and the passengers compartment. You could touch them while sitting in the rear seat through the pass-thru.
That design was from 2012 though. It’s been around a long time, and hasn’t been an issue. But, that’s with Toyota build quality and a sealed interior, not Dodge affordability and an open top jeep.
I have a friend that works at Texas Instruments told me that Stellantis pushed one of the charging module beyond the manufacture spec so expect premature failures. That was like 2 years ago, I’m surprised it took this long. And if this recall is unrelated then expect another down the road.
This is peak Reddit right here. What would someone from Texas Instruments know about the specs on a Samsung battery pack? Lmao
The OBC, or onboard charger, is separate from the battery and BMS. You can have a samsung battery pack and use something like this to manage the charging.
Because Texas Instruments makes things beyond calculators, including automotive battery charging circuits: https://www.ti.com/power-management/battery-management/products.html
I agree the OP is heresay - but you seem pretty aloof as to what exactly Texas Instruments makes for money.
This is peak Reddit right here. Peak ignorance that is.
