I used to think that hybrids were the worst of both worlds because you have to deal with a dead hybrid battery at some point AND deal with mechanical problems but my family member replaced his hybrid batteries at a 3rd party business for just $3000 and the original lasted him like 200K miles. The hybrid end of the car never gave him issues either.
