My beater has turned into a money pit in recent months, and after my brakes completely failed today, I’ve decided it’s time for a new car
My budget is 8K. I have toys, being able to tow a Seadoo or snowmobile would be a plus, but not really necessary. I’m mostly going after comfort, reliability, and something safe to put my 1y/o in. What’s the best, most dependable, bang for your buck vehicle for 8k?
I’ve been eyeing Lincoln MKS’ with the 3.7 V6, and MKX’s. I’ve also been looking at Volkswagen Tiguans, and CC’s. What else do you recommend I look at?

Ford or VW are not tops for comfort/reliability/safety.

If you can work on your own car, go German. Otherwise, be prepared for higher than average repair bills.
Don’t get anything with a CVT. As a blanket statement, they’re time bombs.
