Or any problem at all for that matter?
I keep reading about people getting oled decks with hissing/crackling/white noise sound when they plug their headphones, some even have problems on their speakers
This is all making me stressed as a wait for mine to arrive, (my deck is stuck in label created) and now i read about all these problems…
All Steam OLED Decks are affected, it seems, as this is a design issue:
Valve has also begun responding to Support requests stating that service can be performed to fix the issue per reports in the above thread.
I have yet to receive a reply on my ticket confirming that service will be performed for me, but I just sent them an update inquiring about it.
Interesting, I’ll have to test my headphone jack. Doesn’t really matter to me however, I just play with the speakers blasting haha.
Wow so is the LE edition like the units they f*** on, and charging a premium for them. OLED screens with dead pixels, audio issues, buttons seem loose. I really hope mine just have zero issues. Still processing.
No… you are reading like reports that round down to zero when you look at the install base.
The hardware failure rate for all PCs is somewhere between 0.5% and 3% dead on arrival, with lower priced hardware having higher failure rates, with first run rates being closer to 5%.
I think steam deck rates are much lower than that… more so valve is really great and takes care of the issues via support. So people arent stuck with defects. That is what is really important.
You cant really take the defects out of complex electronics manufacturing.
Let’s say (for maths) that every user in the sub owns a deck and the failure rate is 1%. That would equate to 5260 members with deck issues.
This happens to me sometimes, but I think it’s related to the software and not hardware. My LCD Steam Deck did it too when I updated to SteamOS 3.5.
Huh? Audio Jack works fine on mine.
1TB LE
I plug in a pair of Focal Clear headphones…sounds awesome 👍
I think you’re among the very few ones who use audio jacks still tbh so not many people report it.
Yes. Completely perfect, flawless LE OLED Deck owner here.
Idk I feel like the speakers aren’t that loud compared to the LCD version and about half volume I can’t really hear anything
THIS.
I have the first gen 512gig and the new OLED Limited Edition side by side - when I compare them using Spotify the first gen Deck sounds WAY better.
Like, no question. The original Deck speakers are better on a level of magnitude. There’s absolutely no bass response on the OLED LE speakers, and they feel nearly 30-40% quieter.
Not sure if Valve can fix that in an update but it is pretty disappointing when playing a game with explosions or race car sounds.
Got my LE on Friday, absolutely flawless.
No dead pixels, no crackling speakers, no problems with the headphone jack.
Have you tested the headphone jack with IEMs with the GPU under load? I ask because I’m not at all convinced that it isn’t a design flaw. I’d be very, very surprised if an OLED deck exists without this issue.
Ok, so I did a lot more testing with this. I think I can hear what you are talking about. On mine it is very faint, but there is a bit of line noise. I don’t think its related to the GPU load though…at least on mine it appears to be related to the brightness of the screen. Lots of whites and brights on the screen and I hear it faintly, but if I’m just in like…the Steamdeck settings screen with blacks and dark greys it disappears completely. I wonder if the OLED power draw is causing interference.
Must admit I didn’t test with different brightness levels - you absolutely might be onto something here.
Will say with mine I don’t get any crackling or pops either, just a fairly persistent electrical noise.
I’m experiencing the same as you. I hear this very faint noise that goes away when I go to the settings menu.
