Cause he was already on similar salary at Chelsea. Players usually won’t take lower pay to join for big money transfer.
Yep, could have been a rejection from his side if we offered a lower salary. Plus I think Arteta spoke highly of his role in our team and how he would fit in during the Zoom call (as he usually does), so offering a lower pay compared to the one he was on would ring hollow
