I accidentally got the wrong radiator from advanced auto parts, it all lines up with my transmission and coolant hoses. Unfortunately, the radiator has a hole on each side that doesn’t line up with anything on my truck. Do I need to plug them up? Will it shoot out transmission fluid or coolant? Any advice or ideas appreciated

    Do these extra holes look a whole lot like your transmission lines? Those could be for the oil cooler circuit, which your truck may not have. If that’s the case, you’re fine to leave them open.

    Yeah it’s fine to leave open. Sometimes they add extra places for cooler lines so that the same radiator will fit on multiple trucks. It’s probably in case your truck has a power steering cooler, which it sounds like you dont

    Aftermarket radiator manufacturers consolidate part numbers all the time. Where the OE will have three part numbers for no secondary coolers, with trans cooler, and with trans and engine oil cooler, in the aftermarket they’ll make the one with all three to cover all bases. So long as it fits and your oe lines connect properly, you’re g2g.

    I mean personally sounds like you got the wrong radiator if there’s 2 holes with nothing attached, if those holes are actually holes and not just extra plastic from the mold, water will shot out and you’ll lose all the water within a few minutes, radiators are pressurized due to steam, once it starts the waterpump will shoot alot of it out and once steam builds the rest will follow, I’d pull it and take it back for the correct part, don’t be afraid to open it in store make sure it’s the correct fit.
