Hey, first of all pardon me english isnt’t my first language. Over the last days I saw many posts on here that showed people downloading games on their steam deck and one thing caught my attention. In most posts it showed that people seem to download several gigs of “Shader Pre caching”. When and how often do I need to do this? I am asking since I will get my Steam Deck next week and I live in rural germany and my download speed is about 400 kb/s. Thanks in advance

It is handled automatically. But you can turn it off if you like.
It depends on the game, but every time I turn mine on there are at least a few shader cache updates.
