I have a 2001 Chrysler Sebring LX with a 2.4L 4Cylinder DOHC 16 Valve engine. Currently the water pump is leaking. Was curious if anyone has has this problem and knew not only maybe a potential kit to recommend but also what to do once the initial cover for the timing belt is off?
It looks like with the way the engine is set up I have to take off the timing belt as well as the gear just to get access to replace the water pump?
Any advice would be EXTREMELY appreciated.
2001, back when Chryslers were engineered by Daimler and they told us they were “domestic-built German” cars. In similar water pump replacements (on actual German cars), I’ve set the engine to TDC before removing the timing belt. It helps to loosen the plugs so you can crank it over more easily. Then it’s just a matter of digging it all out. I’ve never had bad luck with any Autozone water pump ever, or anything from Rock Auto really. Likely they’ll have a complete kit.
