Hello everyone, I wanted to resolve that question from the title, whether the SD OLED has better performance than the LCD in relation to fps.
The truth is that I don’t have either, so I would like to know if one is more powerful than the other or not so I can go for one of them. I know that OLED has a better battery than LCD apart from the improved screen, but LCD is much cheaper compared to OLED.
Watching some comparison videos between these two, I can notice that the OLED shows about 10-15 fps more in some games, but what I understood was that there shouldn’t be that difference in fps, right?
The difference between them is around 5-7 fps, which in real world terms is nothing at all GPU-wise.
2 reasons:
- faster memory
- higher efficiency means it can do more in the same 15w power limit
So yes, OLED has better performance :o
Correct.
10-15 fps is really overexagerating you will see 5fps at best
It’s not 10-15 fps, or at least it’s not in at least 99% of games. Most games are getting 1 to 5 more fps.
Die shrink on the main chip,APU from 7nm to 6nm so each watt of power goes further.
Plus as others mention , upgraded RAM so higher bandwidth.
10-15fps more in some games? Damm which ones
I believe LCD has better performance too with the new software and most comparisons didn’t include this
Digital Foundry show a relatively minor but distinct improvement.
I heard it’s a 5-10% increase in fps/efficiency. Which can be alot or nothing depending on the game. Same with the memory speeds, for some games you can get a whopping 1-2 fps, for others it could be 5-10.
Honestly don’t expect the OLED to make or break games, if the deck couldn’t comfortably play it before, it probably can’t now outside of a few niche cases.
