Purchased a car a month ago, 2010 Peugeot 207. Drove to shopping centre today, whilst driving noticed the battery light came up on dashboard. As I entered the shopping centre the radio screen flashed ABS faulty and then my power steering completely went. Managed to park. When turning on again power steering was fine as were brakes. Within 5 minutes radio went off and flashed with ‘electrical fault’ and whole engine cut out. Engine started again with jump start but then started flashing brakes faulty. Although brakes were working. So seemed the whole electric system was going crazy. Turned car off and left it. Fuel was low but not empty. Any ideas whats wrong?? Thanks in advance
Suspect charging system failure, check the auxiliary belt is intact firstly, if it’s ok then you may have an alternator failure, all the issues you describe sound like flat battery type things.
Looks like the battery or the charging system fails to provide enough electricity to keep things moving. Sometimes it could be an alternator pulley, alternator itself (some of them have carbon brushes that can be replaced). You need a voltmeter to start investigating.
Could be the alternator. I have an 08 accord and first my gps n radio went out and the battery came on. A bit later I drove it to autozone to see if they’d test it, they did and I bought a new alternator and on that mile home drive I felt the steering going, then vsa and abs came on and eventually after everything was lit up the car stopped. Installed the new one and a new battery and have been golden since
