That is the overflow chamber so very little pressure
And it still broke. How soon before an area with pressure breaks?
As soon as you lean on it and exceed the modulus of elasticity. It is thin plastic in an area people are prone to putting their elbow while working very common to break
Just get a brass fitting at Home Depot and some worm clamps. 5 minute fix
You MIGHT be able to drill and tap the thread in a barbed brass nipple. Something like this https://www.zoro.com/zoro-select-straight-crimped-or-hose-clamp-14-in-hose-id-18-in-thread-6afh3/i/G0249051/?utm_source=google&utm_medium=surfaces&utm_campaign=shopping feed&utm_content=free google shopping clicks&campaignid=20749401279&productid=G0249051&v=&gad_source=1&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIpvHJp87gggMVPc7CBB2OuBPBEAQYECABEgLtc_D_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds
At this point, you have nothing to lose.
If it works, you saved yourself a lot of money, if it fails you aren’t out anything since you have to replace it anyways.
Depends how it broke. If it’s brittle, replace the rad. Your upper rad hose bib might be next. If it was done by force (closing the hood on something etc) I’d come up with a way to repair it
You can fix this with a brass barbed fitting. Find a brass fitting thats barbed at both ends and you can epoxy 1 end into the radiator. If you’re really lucky yoyncan find one threaded on one end and install it with thread sealer. The brass will cut threads into the plastic so long as its not too tight as to crack the hole up the neck. Ive done both of these before with great success. Ive also done this with fuel pump modules and had somethinf as swnsative as evaporative emissions notnhave issues.
BUBBLEGUM AND DUCK TAPE ! aka super glue and baking soda! It’s a bandaid but it works
Plastic shit.
You can tell which mechanics work in a dealership and a small shop here lol
I’ve seen people drill, tap, and run a brass nipple installed wet with JB Weld and last years.
Buy a brass barb fitting of the proper size from the hardware store for $5. You don’t even need to tap it, just drill out the hole about 1/32 smaller than the size of the brass fitting. Then screw the fitting, threading it into the plastic. Put some JB weld maritime putty around the end. Idk what size you need but link below is the kinda thing you’re looking for.
This but only as a temporary solution. Replace it when you can.
I did fix one before by drilling and pressing a steel line into it . It’s not under pressure since it’s after the radiator cap . It’s just an overflow
https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZT8fj5dtb/ this is exactly what you need!
Use a thread tap on it. Get a hose fitting with threads on one end cover the threads in thread sealer. Spin your fitting in and jam the line on and throw a gear clamp on just to make sure it don’t go anywhere
That to over flow discharge. Looks like there is so nmat left to tap it. It’s not going to discharge until temperature gets too high and pressure cap opens. You will lose a little coolant. Not to worry just check every week or so.
a tap, a nylon barbed fitting and JB WEILD. if you cant figure out the rest, or you have no delicate finesse a whole radiator it is.
