I’ve been seeing headlines in various places for over a year now about “Toyota’s NEW 745 mile game changer!!”
They’ve obviously paid somebody to plant this story … over and over and over … and over and over.
Has anybody actually *seen this battery?
No.
I hope they do come out with it but damn … STFU until you have something to show.
Try building enough Prime models to satisfy demand then start talking…until then stfu.
personally no matter who talks about it or who made it, everyone needs to stop talking about ANY mileage battery as there is no such thing as a “500mile battery”
there may be a battery with a capacity high enough to drive a specific vehicle under specific conditions for up to 500 miles but thats a combination of many factors and not a property of the battery.
Toyota probably said it once as their plans for the future, and every media outlet is using the same source over and over when anything solid battery is talked about.
I thought that initially but it’s been going on for like a year now.
I just saw another story this morning.they’ve been making announcements and pushing deadline every few years so no its not the same source being overshared. toyota is guilty of bullshitting their customers and shareholders.
Always go to the primary source. Toyota press releases and Toyo Times are the only reliable sources of information. News reports from other sources are often biased by the personal speculation of reporters and writers, or by the interests of their sponsors. It’s a waste of time and energy to get frustrated with news reports from secondary sources.
Toyota plans to produce five types of batteries, of which only two are solid-state batteries. The performance version developed with Panasonic and the mass-produced and high-performance versions developed with Toyota Industries are not solid-state batteries. The 750-mile range is the high-performance version developed with Toyota Industries. It was shown to the media in June, but the photos were blurred due to reporting restrictions. In general, you can’t tell the performance of a battery just by looking at it.
they do it to build hype and gage commercial interest before moving to full scale production. the message is scripted but toyota is monitoring forums, fb pages, etc to predict if the capital investment is going to show a return on investment.
Toyota has been working on the SSB for a while now and I think they will be first to market with it. 745 miles under ideal conditions but SSBs are definitely the next evolution in battery tech and will have considerable mileage gains over lithium.
Toyota has been having a breakthrough in battery tech since 2011. That breakthrough was then a few years away.
Fastword over 10yrs later and Toyota is at the cusp just years away. There road map has it listed as releasing in 2028 (originally was 2016; but who’s tracking). Almost there guys. So close you can practically taste the rare earth metals.

This is the first I’ve heard of it. I’ll look into it. Well done, reverse-psychology spam bot.
How often is something actually seen before the company applies for a trademark?
And I’m referring to any company, not just Toyota.
