One of my non-Steam games (Ihanashi no Majo) runs perfectly in Desktop mode on the OLED using basically any Proton version.

When I switch to Game mode, however, it’s being forced into a messed-up HDR mode that results in the game being hideously over-saturated. I can’t even tweak the color balance manually, since that slider only applies to SDR.

Is there some sort of launch command option that would enable me to just start the game without HDR?

Have you changed the color settings to have SDR content stretch outside of the sRGB color space? That’s what that slider does iirc.

The color balance sliders do absolutely nothing in HDR mode. They only have an effect when the deck is in SDR mode. It’s locked into HDR mode when I run this game. It’s the HDR mode that is the problem

Going to record my specific “fix” here: I deleted the file libglesv2.dll from my game folder, and now the game launches with colors that aren’t massively over-saturated.

This may be worth trying if anyone encounters this issue with other Tyranobuilder engine based games.

OK, so no matter what you do on certain games like Detroit become human (which mandatorily use HDRbtw) it’s usable abd it’s gonna look like crap so I found a fix. you go ahead and push the steam key go to settings go down to display, scroll all the way down to HDR visualization And you’re gonna click “none”. That is it. no more garbage on the screen that screws up the experience.
