2019 Ford F150 2.7

Just hit 100k miles.

Apparently I’m one of the thousands of people having this issue with their 10R80 transmission.

The usual slipping, jerking, and sudden lack of responsiveness from the accelerator.

Was fine last week—now I can’t trust it go anywhere. I couldn’t get it ‘out of neutral’, whether I put it in drive or reverse.

I’m a home inspector and own draft line cleaning business, so all I do is drive.

The shop we work with for all our Transits said to get rid of this thing and don’t bother replacing the transmission. We trust these guys.

I like I said, I live in this thing (the last 2 years now) so this is a nightmare situation.

I have 10k set aside in case I found a room or an apartment for rent, so I could theoretically afford the new transmission.

I don’t know what to do.

    Thanks for the advice.

So essentially any shop that puts an emphasis on their transmission service is a safe bet?

Are ‘transmission service specific’ shops a common subset of shops (like import / specialty shops)?

Yeah, transmission shops are fairly plentiful. And many of them - it’s basically the only thing they do. Many of them are not chain stores. Just a few dudes who have been in the business for likely decades.

Sort of like an alternator shop. They specialize in rebuilding alternators and starters.
