Hi everyone. I’m doing my first DIY brake job on my 2009 RAV4. The rotors have two holes that take 8mm 125 hex bolts to push the rotors off. I got one rotor off successfully by evenly tightening the bolts, but on the other one the threads in the holes stripped.

Advice on how to get the rotor off?

Will I need to tap new threads for biggers bolts (which I’ve never done before)?

Thanks in advance!

If you’re reusing the rotor, smack it with a sledge with a 2x4 to prevent marring the rotor. If you’re replacing it, send it without the wood. Either way stick a light layer of antiseize between hub and rotor for the future, don’t bother with the set screws
