I already have a pc that is more powerful than a steam deck, but I wanted to ask if they are still worth it?

A friend of mine is selling his at a really low price, so I thought now might be a good idea to buy it from him.

IMO absolutely, they’re not mutually exclusive. I have a PC with a 13600k and 4080 and I still use my SD regularly. I do flight sim and any game that requires grunt on my PC, and basically everything else on my SD.

    yes, yes and yes!

(I know that’s not too informative, but I too wondered if the steamdeck is worth it and this is my conclusion after 8months)

Yes imo. It feels so good to be able to play virtually anywhere. At work, commute home, airplane, bus ride, coffee shop, etc.

I dont think not owning a good pc is a mandatory thing to buy a steam deck. I tend to play older games (like recently i completed Prey, Just Cause 3 and both Portal) on the SD and if there’s any beefy title i want to play - i just use pc.

You can actually stream any game through Remote Play onto your Deck, which works pretty great!

      Results may vary*

Remote play for me is just a pixelated blob even on my 5GHz network. Maybe I should try moonlight to see if it works any better

Depends on what kind of gamer you are.

If you already have a steam account with 10+ games: maybe.

If you emulate: yes a million times.

If have a 1K+ game collection like I do: hell yes.

I have what is basically the highest possible PC and I play 90% of the time on the deck. It really depends on what you play. Except for esports type games or competitive multiplayer I play everything else on Deck.
