I would argue that xbox was never truly competing with PlayStation.
The fact of the matter is that 360 released a year before PlayStation in the US and two years before in Europe. And then on top of that they were selling 2,3,4+ consoles to the same people because of RROD.
Xbox 360’s success was an illusion based on improperly reported sales information and unprecedented hardware failure rates.
RROD is why I will never buy another Xbox ever again. I got it almost immediately. They told me I had to pay to get it fixed. I threw it in the trash. Then suddenly they realized it was a widespread issue. Refunded people who got it fixed. Response was too slow. Left a lot of people like me fucked.
