It’s an opinion and everyone has one. Change is inevitable. I’m sure people who didn’t have screens said that same thing about both of your screen being placed on a dashboard.
You mean the small shifter? It serves its purpose and remove unneeded space around the center console. If the car is sporty then it will have paddles still for manual shifting.
it felt fiddly and too small to use. I test drove the M340i as I was considering getting one for a long time and it felt weird enough to make me think of getting the pre lci. Had the 520d and F90 M5 comp before as well with the normal shifter so could be that I’m used to it but most agree with the shifter being weird and finnicky
I have an X3 M40i and an iX and yeah it’s different but after a few drives you get used to it. I don’t feel like it takes away from any sportiness of any car it’s in. In the iX it’s nice because it takes up very little space and doesn’t stick up out of the console area.

screen…fine but the shifter? shifting should feel a bit more engaging. It’s like putting the engine start stop on a screen

As a former owner of an F30 335i, I can recall the absolute hatred of the “tacked on tablet” on the dash.
