Well, it could be football lol. I think going forward I will refer to people filming as intentional grounding. And to answer your question from that angle, it is a penalty because they try to intentionally Ground themselves to get the other team penalized but since being caught faking they instead get penalized.

To answer the question, just take the sack and loss of yards. It’s a penalty to bring balance between offense and defense.
Tossing it out of bounds sounds like a handball to me and intentional grounding is just diving for a penalty so sounds about right in modern day football
