Hi, I’ve just reassigned and relocated by my company from Asia to Houston, Texas a few of months ago and looking to lease a ride. In a perfect world I’d just buy cash, but thats out of the question. Also I doubt I could finance one with no credit scores.

I’m in love with a CX50 but have no experience at all in car purchase/lease (only had one car in my life and it was a gift). I imagine dealers will try to add everything that can to the pricing. So any pointers for this noob?

Of the dealerships around my location I noticed the following items

Dealer-Installed Equipment $1,295

  • Window Tint $499
  • Wheel Locks $297
  • DNA Vin Etch $499

Are these points negotiable? I did some reading in the internet and saw that VIN etch is cheap and can be done on your own. Also I know that wheel locks don’t go as high as that. Are these points negotiable? I did visit the dealer for a test drive and the sales guy mentioned about maintenance/service package included. What would be a reasonable price for this kind of package? any other pointers/tips?

Thank you in advance

If the dealer has already installed the equipment, it’s probably not negotiable, but you can try to get them to throw it in for free. You can also choose another car from their inventory without those items.

No need for a maintenance package either, your car is new and it’s typically covered by a 3yr 36k mile manufacturer warranty. Personally, i would stay away from the maintenance packages, they’re just a way for the dealer to make more money on cars like Mazda that are super reliable.

Like someone else said, MSRP is also negotiable, especially towards the end of the year and if the dealer has a lot of inventory, especially of the model you’re looking at.
