I see so many youtubers shitting on it but some of my friends who are casual gamers like me, say they liked it. What do you guys think, is it that bad?

Which one are you referring to?

    • Lord of the Fallen (2015) - original OR
    • The Lords of the Fallen (2023) - reboot

The 2015 original one, I really liked. Even though most people who play souls-likes aren’t fans of it. I do not generally enjoy or play souls games, but a few of them have been accessible and not frustrating enough that I could enjoy them. This was one; as well as Elden Ring.

I gave the 2023 reboot a try, but I didn’t like it that much; probably because it was a bit more like traditional souls-likes than I umm… liked. Not saying it’s bad, just not for me. Though the reviews of the game seemed very favorable.

I strongly disliked the new LoTF and I am often surprised by people defending the game. After playing Lies of P it’s clear there are developers who understand the Soulsborne formula and those that do not. LoTF is in the latter category.

The two aren’t mutually exclusive. A game can be objectively bad (or otherwise generally disliked), but you and your friends can still enjoy it. I’m personally a huge fan of Souls and I’ve played many souls-likes, but I’ve had huge issues with every non-Fromsoft offering I’ve played. I haven’t played the reboot, but I found the original Lords of the Fallen clunky, unresponsive, and otherwise generally soulless, no pun intended.
