What do you think about Mourinho’s statements on La Liga’s lack of competitiveness ?

“I was in Spain, but I didn’t enjoy it because I won a title with a record of 100 points and 121 goals, but we played only three or four competitive matches all season. There is a big, big gap between the giants and the others."

“This season I rested a few players against Bradford and I lost against Bradford. And that is English football. You are winning 2-0 and you concede a goal you know you are going to have hell for the last few minutes and you might draw 2-2 and lose two points,”

“This is the reality of the Premier League. You have no time. It’s not just about the number of matches, it’s the intensity. And it’s not just physical intensity, you feel the intensity mentally.

“I think the difference between the two leagues [Premier League and La Liga] is huge. Would they [Barcelona and Real Madrid] win the Premier League? Maybe yes. Maybe not.”

What a stupid ass analysis. Real Madrid has won 5 out of the last 9 UCL. By that same logic we could say that the UCL isn’t competitive.

Yes, Real Madrid, Barcelona and lately Atleti are likely to win. Nevertheless that doesn’t mean the level of La Liga is trash like some people would led you to believe. It’s just that these three clubs are elite. Well, Real Madrid and Barcelona. Atleti can have a push every few years. They don’t really challenge year in year out.

We could also extrapolate that same argument to the Premier League now. City was won the last three titles and 5 out of the last 6. Would we also say that the Premier League is weak now because City always wins? You would think someone like Mourinho wouldn’t make this same tired argument.
