Hey all, hoping maybe someone smarter than me can help.
I’m make this as short as possible, I bought an 06 Forester, 2.5L NA, Auto trans. Vehicle had a FR tire blow, damaging the harness that runs from cab to ABS module. I painstakingly repaired it as the parts are no longer available. Verified all of my wires were correct, etc. Vehicle had no issues for a few months, during this time I was able to use an old MATCO scanner I had to check codes, monitor data etc. My buddy needed to borrow a car, let him use this car. He brought it back a week later with a CEL on, but my new scanner(Autel), nor my older MATCO scanner will work, neither can detect VIN, nor connect to anything if VIN is manually inputted.
I have checked power to OBD2, I have battery power, as well as ignition power when key is in the run position. I have tested continuity from, what I’m assuming, is CAN wire(gray/white) to ECM and ABS module, no issues. Verified continuity of the blue/black wires, and orange wires to ECM, no issues. Checked all fuses, no issues. Battery voltage is 12V key in run position, and 14V when running. Vehicle runs and drives, no issues at all. Test mode connector under dash is disconnected, passenger footwell is connected.
Pin tension on OBD2 port is good, verified the pins aren’t moving back when the Bluetooth “dongle” is connected. I have even gone as far as to remove the pins for the OBD2 connector and add some tension.
I’m at a loss for words. It is always possible my wire repair didn’t cut it, but I have continuity to the ABS module, and no ABS lights, anything like that. Does anyone have any idea what the issue may be?
Probably some simple component failure, possibly a result of the harness damage.
