Hi, so my truck has 120,000 miles on it. I noticed it seemed like it was spinning up but not accelerating from a stop then it would like lurch forward and be fine. I was on a 3 hour trip so I tried just not push it. Half way through I noticed it seemed like it was like locking up or something when I stopped. Then it wouldn’t go when I pushed the gas till I hit the next gear and then everything was fine. Highway speeds no issue, take turns fast no issues, just so long as I didn’t idle.

I was monitoring my rpms and temps the whole time and the RPMs didn’t do anything weird and the temps stayed below or around 175. (It just popped in my head, if it’s cold that means your fluid is low right)

I called to get service and no one is taking appointments till January. What kind of advice could you give me for diagnosis on my own?

Check your transmission fluid level. there is a tiny dipstick in the front right corner of the transmission pan that you can check it with. you can pull the cap off with a 19mm wrench but you have to check it running. Watch out for that passenger side catalytic converter. It’ll get warm quick! Best of luck!
