Curious what problems snuck up on you and what it took/cost to be repaired.

    2012 997.1 Turbo S. When the car was 9 years old, I found a weird screw with „wings“ in my garage. My wife: „oh, I found one of these some days ago“. We have multiple cars, so we can’t figure out to which it belongs. A few days later the turbo had to go for German TÜV (2 year mandatory technical safety check) and the guy shows me the position of the screw: it’s holding the brake disk, together with around 15 other of the same type. Both front discs are missing one screw. Ok, no big deal. Just call the workshop. „We have to check something, we call you back“. Hmmm. 3 hours later: „we are sorry, you can’t buy single screws. Me: „obviously, I buy the set of 16“. Dealer: „ Sorry Sir, but the screw is not designed to be replaced. You have to buy the whole brakedisc.“. Me: „you mean: I have to buy two 911 Turbo S Brake Discs, made of ceramic, each 7500€ ?“. Dealer: „Yes, I’m sorry. But good news: you bought the warranty extension. It’s covered. But you have to pay for the breakpads. „ Me: no problem. 😉

        Why? It’s not expected to break. Porsche designed it to last „forever“, and have faith in that. Otherwise they would exclude it from extended warranty. And if you buy a high value „toy“ you must be prepared for high value repairs.
