Hello guys, i have an Audi A4 B6 1.9TDI with a manual transmission. I have noticed that when i accelerate somewhat fast in 1st and 2nd gear, at peak torque rpms (around 2000) i hear some strange noise, like something is slipping. I can feel the decrease in acceleration but the engine still goes up the revs like normal, and no, its not the tires.
I’m guessing something in the transmission or the clutch is slipping but i dont know, and i would like to know if this is serious enough to take it to the repair shop for a check.
For now it doesnt interfere with normal driving, and it hasnt gotten worse since i started noticing it, already some months ago.
Sorry if the wording isnt the best, english is not my first language
Clutch slip is normally first noted when in higher gears and pushing the throttle all the way.
If you don’t normally drive this way, or haven’t noticed it, do a hard pull once cruising in a high gear. If you have clutch slip in first and second, it should be very noticeable in high. Cars don’t usually make it very far once clutch slip happens in first or second. If it is, better get an appointment booked.
Almost certainly a worn-out clutch. If rpm goes up and speed doesn’t there’s really nothing elsd that can slip. And it will start to slop at max torque like it does on yours.
It will need to be fixed before it gets worse.
