He gets a lot of meme time but he’s had a good career.
love jenko
What a feeling it was when he scored that goal against Norwich. Made me feel closer to Arsenal than ever seeing as he was a lifelong fan. Felt like one of my mates had scored
I am not crying you are crying.
Every once in a while I go back and watch his goal celebration. One of us, forever.
This is such a great read. I always respected him as a player though he wasn’t the best. He was living our dream and I’m so jealous of him
Will never forget his performance vs Bayern, sprinting back to tackle a flying Arjen Robben.
We’ll always have that jolly down the right hand side.
Banter era defense still gives me nightmares.
jenkoooooo. would love to see him return to the arsenal in some capacity once he retires
One last jolly up down the right hand side with Ox, left foot/right food, whachu wan?
Sadly now we have right back, left back, center back Tomiyasu, whachu wan?
This lives rent free in my head, constantly.
Desert Storm
Gunnerblog interviews Carl Jenkinson for a retrospective on his career so far and his time at Arsenal. I’ve had the same flair for almost a decade, so you can imagine what a joy it was for me to read this. Even at his roughest of patches I rooted for Jenko. Saddened me to read how painful and touchy of a subject Arsenal was for him after he left the club, but glad enough time has passed that it’s all love for him once again. I need to catch a Newcastle Jets game one of these days!
I was so psyched to see him play. We share the same birthday so when he joined us, I thought of him as my lucky long lost twin. It’s rare to see a player who’s such a fan and the fact that it hurt him towards the end also shows how much it meant to him.
I need to catch a Newcastle Jets game one of these days!
No-one needs that, unless they want crippling depression. He’s not really a starter these days anyway, even for one of the worst teams in the comp.
Only watch the Jets if you want pain my friend
You really don’t want to do that
“It was 1961 and I was walking down Seven Sister’s Road on my dad’s shoulders. I asked him why people were celebrating and he said “don’t worry about that son, I’ll take you to see some proper football next year.” So the next season I went to my first Arsenal game, and the club has been my life ever since. I’ve been a season ticket holder for as long as I can remember. Now exactly 50 years after first standing on the Clock End, my son plays for the team. It’s unbelievable. It’s a dream come true for both Carl and myself, I can’t tell you how proud I am of him.”
- Steve Jenkinson (Carl’s dad)
Damn it who put these tears in my eyes?
I love this club
This may be ridiculous but this actually made me emotional. I hope I get to share this club with my kids one day
It’s not ridiculous being emotional.
Its a dream man. My 5 year old, named Gunner btw ;), went to his first game ever and it was against Chelsea for the pre-season match last year. He got Odegaard’s match kit, he and I will NEVER forget this day for as long as we live. <3
Classic Desert Storm
I remember him as that one guy who would run non stop for the duration of the 90 mins.
My favorite non star player. The way he celebrated that goal against Norwich is all of us if we would’ve been players for our club. Miss him and his Wrck-It Ralph, professional singer dad.
Absolutely adore this. Jenko was just one of us living the dream. Nothing but love for the guy
