Another portion of the case about the Nevada mine near the Oregon border is still pending appeals.

No surprise, lithium is a hot commodity now. Everything takes a back seat to $$$.

The sooner we replace it with more common and benign chemistries like sodium batteries the better.

Everything takes a back seat to $$$.

In this case it is a survival issue. Climate change is killing the life support system, killing people directly with the violence and frequency of storms and fires and the heat.

Lithium extraction is as “benign” as sodium. The question here was not environmental damage that the mining causes but its location vs. Native American historical site.

Nah lithium is fine, all mining is destructive but lithium mining isn’t that bad and it’s recyclable.

Native sacred sites are actually registered, etc. no such registration was done here. claiming it was a sacred site was just a hail mary by the NIMBY-type environmentalists, mean to manipulate the court and people like you.

just a hail mary by the NIMBY-type environmentalists,

It is the “NIMBY-type environmentalists” who are pushing EV’s and resultant Lithium mining.

In this case it was Native Americans over location to artifacts.

Government policy enforcement via litigation is immortal in my opinion. The government needs to be the one paying to enforce the law.
But here, the company was dragged through court and paid significant legal fees to defend itself against allegations the court ultimately threw out. So despite no legal basis, they were still punished with significant legal fees.

If it has been treated unfairly. Companies are just people. Sometimes a lot of people some times one person.

Attorney fees aren’t going to bankrupt an established company, they budget for them. Particularly an OIL company. Dry your alligator tears, they will survive. And frankly, the perspective in this suit was that the company was breaking the law so by your logic the government should be paying and backing the plaintiff.
