Hello! I purchased the Oled version Thursday, planning to play a lot during Holidays if I got it in time. There’s two AAA games that I want to play on it, locally, FFVII Remake Intergrade and Cyberpunk DLC. I know those games can be run on the Deck but I wonder if it would be better to stream them from my gaming PC (Ryzen 5 7600, 4070, 32gb) than running them on the device? Thanks a lot!

You’re gonna get better performance and graphics streaming from that rig for sure, assuming your home wifi network is able to handle it.

It’s up to you whether the downside (ie greater setup, need to have your 500w+ gaming computer on at the same time, etc) is worth the upside.

Yes. Most of the time for a brand new game I’ll just buy on my PS5 and remote play. I play a lot of older games and indies games natively on the Steam Deck. Both Cyberpunk and FFVIIR work great on the Steam deck but your overall fps and resolution and battery life will be MUCH higher streaming.

I do enjoy AAA games personally on the 4k tv. That being said, I do sometimes stream onto the Steam Deck from the bed.

I have a 3080. I run Cyberpunk at 4k, ultra performance DLSS, path tracing with ray reconstruction. Get around ~70fps.

Yes, of course, there are artifacts and the quality isn’t perfect, because, well, it’s ultra performance.

However, the extra pixels from 4k look fantastic, and there is a mod that allows you to change the number of bounces for ray tracing, giving you a boost in performance.

Personally, I would trust DLSS to upscale to 4k, rather than render (say) 1080p and have the TV itself upscale to 4k.

Point is - it looks FANTASTIC to me on a 4k screen. You have somewhat similar specs and frame generation, and if you render it at Steam Deck resolution, it will look great.

    Stream it!

It is how I plan to use mine when I get it. Setup Sunshine in your PC and then Moonlight on your SD (should take you like 10-30 minutes depending on your computer skills).

Remember to connect your Deck to your 5 ghz WiFi and PC via Ethernet if possible. If not, 5 ghz as well.

The SD has a pretty powerful APU so it is able to stream from your PC flawlessly and with max settings. It will feel like native and the SD will use much less battery.

It is the way to go when playing at home.

My first Steam Deck is on the way, can it stream out of the box or do I have to download third party software to get it working?
