I was very close to buying an OLED, but decided to wait for the 2nd Gen Steam Deck instead. I couldn’t justify the extra money for a refresh just yet. The LCD is completely fine as it is till the next Gen release imo.

(though if I was in a region with the limited edition OLED Deck, I would have caved in, not going to lie 😂)

What did everyone do? Buy an OLED or waiting it out?

i got an oled. i loved my steam deck but certain things drove me nuts in it like the backlight bleed. i’ve been saying since i got my RMA’s unit with backlight bleed that if they ever dropped an OLED upgrade i would but it day one, and i did.

Nah im waiting either for a deep discount or for SD2, I’ll most likely just wait for SD2, unless my deck dies before then for some reason.

I’m definitely waiting for the SD2, and the OLED version of it at that, as it stands, there’s no reason to pay another 500 euro for another steam deck, the upgrade isn’t major enough (nor do I think it was even meant to be)

I tried selling my 1TB Steam Deck but just as the buyer bailed out I removed the publication.

I should not just get an OLED because the screen is slightly bigger/better and for battery life, I never had any issues since I have a battery bank that outlasts the OLED gains by a long shot or just play it plugged in when at home.

It has been a long one week mental fight but yeah I should not fall for a sidegraded piece of tech, I’ll wait for the SD2.
Lesson learned from the OLED Nintendo Switch (even though the advantage is that my OG switch is hacked in this case)

Stick with my Deck and wait and see if a SD2 is worth it for me (I’ve been almost exclusively playing low requirement indie titles this last year, so the deck did 60fps anyways)

I’m waiting for SD2. I love my deck, but I don’t think the upgrade is worth the cost and hassle of upgrading, I’ve only had it for 4-5 months so it has plenty of life in it still

I bought an oled because the screen and battery life (and maybe fan noise) were my biggest gripes with the steam deck. Hoping to recoup half the cost by selling my LCD unit.

And I will 100% buy the Deck 2 day 1. Valve have me now

Got an oled. Handhelds I feel benefit more from picture quality than raw performance. There’s a youtuber named mystic that reviewed the Playstation Portal recently and he put it perfectly: “alot of triple A games weren’t designed to be played on small screens” and he’s 100% right. Let’s take for example a game like cyberpunk. Is it neat to play it on a handheld? Yeah, definitely. Is it as enjoyable as playing it on a
